Tour: An excursion to the Salzkammergut
It is mentioned in countless songs and is a popular location for sentimental regional movies: the region Salzkammergut with its deep blue lakes and picturesque towns. The district’s climate and beauty were already appreciated during the emperor’s day, when the Salzkammergut was used for extensive summer holidays. Many artists and authors came to this area during the summer months, finding a friendly and peaceful escape.
The excursion to the lake district will take you along the Fuschlsee to St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee, where W.A. Mozart’s mother was born.
Following a romantic boat cruise across the Wolfgangsee from St. Gilgen to St. Wolfgang, you will visit the church with its famous Gothic winged altar-piece built by Michael Pacher.
The trip back to the city of Salzburg will take you once again through the typical landscape of the Salzkammergut.
